5 Creative Ways to Celebrate Valentine's Day

Whether your heart swoons at the thought of Valentine’s Day, or you prefer to avoid it entirely, there are ways to celebrate a day of love without being coupled up or spending large amounts of cash. This year, choose to make the most of Valentine’s Day by celebrating with friends, your beloved pet or in the kitchen with your better half.

Rather than purchase expensive gifts or spend dinner out at a crowded restaurant, plan a creative and special experience for the ones that matter most. Gather your gaggle of gal friends, write love letters to your friends and family or snuggle up next to your fur-baby and show extra affection to the four-legged loves in your life.

Here are 5 creative ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day this year, so you can make the most of your time with the ones you love!

Love Letters
Showing your love for those who matter most doesn’t have to be about romance, it can be a thoughtful expression of love and appreciation. This year, take time to write letters of love and gratitude to the ones who fill your heart with joy. Consider writing a letter of appreciation to your parents, closest friends, helpful co-workers, wonderful roommates, and anyone else who makes a difference in your life. You’ll find that giving love to others somehow gives love right back to you, in return.

Galentine’s Day
Don’t have a romantic interest or partner? No problem! Gather up your gal pals, and plan an evening of fun and friendship. No one has your back like your friends, and celebrating your love and appreciation for them on this special day makes total sense. Choose to do a potluck dinner and a movie in, or plan an elegant cocktail party for just you and the girls. Surrounded by your friends, you won’t be able to help but feel the love this Valentine’s Day.

Couple Up in the Kitchen
Rather than take your special someone out for an expensive meal at a crowded restaurant, choose to cook a meal together at home, this Valentine’s Day. Even if your loved one isn’t much of a cook, you can come up with a simple meal that will get the two of you working together, and making a meal with love for you both to enjoy and remember.

Valentine’s Pets
Is there anyone you love more than your fur-baby? This year, make Valentine’s Day all about your special bond with your beloved pet. Pick up a new toy or cozy jacket for a nice, long romp outdoors. Pamper your pet with treats or a biscuit, and spend the evening curled up with the four-legged one you love.

Handmade Gifts
Put your crafty hands to work this Valentine’s Day, and consider making handmade gifts for your special someone or loved ones. Make your own Valentine’s Day card, or decorate a mason jar and fill it with 100 reasons you love your special someone. Decorate a photo frame and stick a favorite picture of the two of you inside, or bake cupcakes, cookies or your beloved’s favorite sweet treats.
