Signature Management Corporation is teaming up with The Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore to support the Our Neighbors Need Us Now campaign and provide healthy and nutritious food for seniors, children and
low-income families in our community.
With your help, we want to continue to keep meals on the tables of our
neighbors who need it most.
During this unprecedented moment in our history, we are all feeling the impacts of sweeping changes brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. Children are no longer able to count on school-based feeding programs. Rural hunger and transportation challenges on the Eastern Shore are projected to push the food insecurity rates from 13% and 14% for
Accomack and Northampton counties, respectively, to 18% and 20%. The recent closure of the only grocery store in the St. Paul’s area in Norfolk leaves residents struggling to access to fresh food like produce, dairy, and lean protein.
These are just a few examples of how the Foodbank and their network of partners are seeing a rise in demand for hunger-relief services that will grow over time. Feeding America projects a 50% increase in food insecurity overall and a 75% increase among children throughout Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore.
You can help turn hunger into hope by participating in the Our Neighbors Need Us Now Food Drive from August 27 to September 10.
- Use the Foodbank shopping list to collect nonperishable food, baby products and hygiene items. Please keep in mind that the Foodbank is committed to providing nutritious meals that are low in fat, sodium, and sugar.
- Collection bins will be in the leasing office, or if you’d like your items picked up, you can arrange a time for someone from our team to collect the paper bag of good from your doorstep.
- Encourage friends and family to contribute to your collection. The resident who donates the greatest number of cans will receive a $250 rent credit!
Imagine the relief, and seeds of hope, your donation will bring to our neighbors struggling with hunger in these challenging times. Thank you for your commitment to the Foodbank’s mission – leading the effort to eliminate hunger in our community.
We’re all in this together, and together we will continue to solve hunger!
